Building Up

Key verse: Ephesians 4:16
“Out from whom all the Body, being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and through the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.”

The building up of the Body of Christ mentioned in the New Testament is not a matter of organization, but of the organic joining and knitting together of the believers in the divine life. This organic building, which is initially carried out in the Body of Christ, will consummate in the building of the holy city, New Jerusalem. This building is also the building referred to in Ephesians 4:15-16 as the corporate issue of the believers’ individual growth into the Head, Christ, in all things. This building up with the fellow partakers of the divine life is the highest possible attainment of one who pursues after Christ in God’s eternal economy.
