God’s Complete Salvation

The two aspects of God’s complete salvation

The eight items of God’s organic salvation

Renewing

Key verse: Romans 12:2
“And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.”

The process of renewing presented in the Scriptures is not merely self-improvement or self-adjustment. The renewing taught by the Scriptures is the renewing of the mind (Rom. 12:2), that is, the spreading of God Himself into our mind—the leading part of our soul. God first regenerates us and then begins the continual process of renewing us (Titus 3:5). In renewing, the Spirit of God penetrates our troublesome mind, causing it to be sanctified and uplifted, even to become the very mind of Christ (Phil. 2:5). Hence, for us to be renewed means that a new element is worked into our being, particularly into our mind. Whereas regeneration is accomplished once for all, renewing is an ongoing process through the believer’s entire lifetime continuing until he becomes matured to be a full-grown man (Col. 1:28).
